Almost, Maine Opens 2014 Season at Williamstown

Williamstown Little Theatre (Vic) kicks off 2014 with American romantic comedy Almost, Maine in February.

On a cold, clear moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream.

Almost, Maineby US actor and playwright John Cariani, comprising nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine. It premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004 where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim.

A native of Presque Isle, Maine, Cariani wrote  Almost, Maineas not only an ode to the people of Maine but to the universality of the language of love. Love, by the way, does not always have a happy ending but if the story is told right, it doesn't matter…
