Annie Gets Three Men with Her Guns

Annie Gets Three Men with Her Guns

The song might say You Can't Get a Man with a Gun, but …

The publicity team for Queanbeyan Players’ forthcoming production of Annie Get Your Gun together with Frank Butler, Annie Oakley and Clare Newhouse and Jo Carvolth as Indians with their wonderful horses recently braved the icy wind and cold to do a publicity shoot at The Canberra Equestrian Centre. David Doepel took along the amazing rifles he had made - hand made wooden replicas circa 1863 which will also star in the show.

Indians ready to ride bare back in costume, leads in costume, photographer ready with camera, three armed police….. Hey!  They weren’t on the schedule!

A passing motorist had spotted David at the gate of the Equestrian Centre sporting four rifles and had rung the police, who were at the scene in minutes. Luckily the replicas were of rifles of an era past and on inspection were obviously wooden replicas. The company was allowed to continue ‘shooting’… that is, filming, with great results for the poster and media publicity.

“It's good to know we have such vigilance in this city to protect us against crime and that our guns pass muster for their realism in the show!” says Publicity Officer

Queanbeyan Players’ Annie Get Your Gun performances commence on Friday 1stNovember, continuing until Saturday 16thNovember at The Q, Queanbeyan NSW.
