Fame to light up the Beenleigh sky like a flame

Beenleigh Theatre Group (Queensland) is staging Fame the Musical from November 15 to 30, 2013.

Fame the Musical follows the students at New York's School of the Performing Arts through their tough, four-year course. The audience will see the students coming to terms with life and relationships: we will see those who persevere, who are resilient - and those who are not. Above all, we will see them understanding the need to strive for excellence to be the best actor, singer, dancer or musician that they can be.

Fame is being produced by Beenleigh Theatre Group in their Crete Street venue, with a cast of actors from Brisbane to the Gold Coast in fourteen lead roles plus ensemble.

This stage version of the Oscar nominated, hit 80's movie, and Emmy winning TV series, played for over ten years in London's West End. It was nominated for two Olivier awards and has been seen in over 50 countries worldwide.

The production team assembled by the theatre includes director Christopher King, alumnus of Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, and choreographer Shelley Marshall, who has recently returned from six months performing in Bollywood, India.

“We aim to electrify the stage with an energetic interpretation of this world-renowned musical,” King said. “We can deliver a fast-paced production, with a range of dance styles is on display.  One number alone features lyrical, Latin and tap choreography to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.”
