Footloose in Kew

Footloose in Kew

OCPAC will bring the hit 80s movie Footloose to life in Kew for 8 shows only in September 2015

Inspired by the 80s movie starring Kevin Bacon, this high energy musical includes Kenny Loggins’ Oscar nominated dance anthem Footloose.

The story follows Ren McCormack after he arrives in small country town named Bomont. When Ren discovers that the town has outlawed rock music and dancing, he fights to overturn the town’s outdated and narrow-minded laws.

OCPAC’s production features a cast and crew including talented professionals. Footloose Director Jordan Barr and Musical Director Rosie Byth are both Music Theatre graduates from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). The show’s choreographer Remy Noonan attended Patrick Studios Australia and is now a seasoned choreographer and performer in the entertainment industry.

“Working on Footloose has been a dream and the cast have really embraced taking on this 80s pop culture classic. We've added our own little spin on a few numbers, but have kept the heart of the show. I'm very excited to be back at Carey this year directing one of my favourite musicals. Come on down and "cut footloose" with us this September!”  Jordan Barr, Director

Leading the cast are Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) graduate Shannen Alyce (Ariel) and University of Ballarat Arts Academy graduate Warren Logan (Willard). The cast and production team are a mixture of Carey alumni and members of the wider community who all share a passion for the performing arts.

OCPAC has achieved extensive success in its short history winning multiple awards at the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria and Lyrebird Awards. The company produced a return season of Seussical: The Musical at The Athenaeum Theatre for the 2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
