The Game’s Afoot at Castle Hill

The Game’s Afoot at Castle Hill

The Game’s Afoot; or Holmes for the Holidays written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Paul Sztelma promises a night of thrills and laughter at The Pavilion Theatre, Caste Hill during April 2016.

It’s Christmas eve, 1936. After an attempt on his life, Broadway star William Gillette, famous for his leading role in the play “Sherlock Holmes”, has invited his fellow cast members and his mother to a weekend of revelry at his sumptuous art deco home.

Throw in a venomous theatre critic, a dead body and an eccentric police Inspector from across the pond, and Gillette must assume the persona of his beloved Holmes to track down the killer before the next victim appears. A glittering whodunit filled with dangerous hilarity and hilarious danger!

In 2016, the Castle Hill Players are celebrating 50 continuous years in their home - The Pavilion Theatre in the Castle Hill Showground. In a season packed with great quality plays, Ludwig’s comedy is sure to be a hit with audiences.

The Game’s Afoot is the third Ken Ludwig play that Paul Sztelma has directed at the Pavilion. “Ludwig does a great farce,” Sztelma says. “Audiences really respond to the sharp and witty dialogue, physical comedy and outlandish plot twists.”

The Game’s Afoot stars Jason Spindlow (William Gillette); Elizabeth Gilbert (his mother Martha); Elizabeth Chambers and Peter Gizariotis (Madge and Felix Geisel); Emily Richardson (Aggie Wheeler); Robert Snars (Simon Bright); Brooke Davidson (Daria Chase) and  Alexandra Ridden (the Inspector).

The Games Afoot; or Holmes for the Holidays runs April 8 to April 30.
