Kick Off Your Sunday Shoes at Holroyd

Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society as they kick off their Sunday shoes and celebrate 45 incredible years with the 1980’s hit, Footloose The Musical in September 2016.

The community based Society was first formed in 1971 and continues to produce two major musicals each year

“We have a great following and huge support from people from all over Sydney, not just in the Western Sydney region. It’s a great feeling when you speak with audiences and find out they’ve come from the North Shore, Blue Mountains or Sutherland Shire to see our shows. We also receive a lot of support from fans on our Facebook page which we love,” said Mrs Leanne Carter, ticket secretary, Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society.

Elisa Vitagliani, president, Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society said, “The committee is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and we are all passionate about musical theatre and entertaining audiences with quality productions. Despite being a relatively long running company we are continuing to see new members and young performers join the Society. Once they see how dedicated, friendly and passionate we are, they want to be involved in our shows.”

Celebrating in true musical style the society will sweat it out in its 45thyear to bring Footloose the musical to the Red Gum Centre in Wentworthville from 16 to 24 September.

An eight piece band will play the classic hit musical songs including Let’s Hear It For The Boy, Almost Paradise, Holding Out For A Hero and the popular Footloose.

“Spirits are high and the cast and production teams are pumped and ready to bring Footloose to life on stage,” said director, Paul Jenkins.

Based on the 1980’s hit film, Footloose The Musical sizzles with romance, rebellion and the journey of self-discovery. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren thinks his life is over. What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws, including a ban on dancing. It isn’t long before Ren can’t resist breaking the rules.

“The cast we have assembled are doing a phenomenal job and it would be a shame to miss out on what is going to be a fun, energetic and heartfelt show. I urge everyone to get their tickets early and come and enjoy a night of amazing community theatre,” said Paul.

There will be matinee performances of Footloose The Musical at 2pm and evening performances at 8pm. Performances will be held at the Red Gum Centre, 2 Lane Street in Wentworthville.

Tickets cost $35 Adults, $30 Student/Concession and $25 for Children under 12 years of age. Group bookings of 10 people or more receive 10% off the total purchase price.
