Evita’s Dress Unveiled

Ahead of Willoughby Theatre Company's production of Evita, leading lady Virginia Natoli unveiled Eva Peron’s dress, to be worn as she sings ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ on the balcony of the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires, on the steps of the Concourse in Chatswood.

On May 22nd 2015 the legendary story of Eva Perón bursts back onto the stage when Willoughby Theatre Company stages the first production in Sydney in almost 20 years of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical Evita.

Shakespeare Comedy with a 1950s Twist

Shakespeare's feast of humour and sexual politics, The Taming of the Shrew, is being reimagined in 1950s Italy when Phoenix Ensemble presents the classic comedy at Beenleigh’s Pavilion Theatre over four weekends in April and May 2015.

The Taming of the Shrew is a romp through the romantic entanglements of the Minola sisters: "shrewish" Katherina and her “sweet” younger sister Bianca.

Based on a conception of Jerome Robbins, with book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, 1957 Broadway classic West Side Story is a modern day version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Equus at Melville

CONTROVERSIAL and shocking, Sir Peter Shaffer’s Tony Award-winning Equus is playing at Melville Theatre (WA) in May 2015.

Directed by Lars Jensen, the play is a psychological thriller about a young man who blinds six horses and his psychiatrist who struggles to discover the reasons behind those actions and whether he should cure or normalise him.

Jake’s Women for Galleon Theatre Group

When directors and theatre companies look for plays with audience appeal the works of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Neil Simon invariably come into the mix. It’s therefore no surprise that Adelaide’s Galleon Theatre Group didn’t need much persuading by Director Warren McKenzie to stage Simon’s Jake’s Women as the company’s first 2015 show.

1959 Comedy Horror Film Becomes ‘Stage Noir’

A CLASSIC cult movie from the late 1950s is being brought to life as a stage production during May and June 2015.

Presented by Dark Psychic Productions at Phoenix Theatre (WA), the 1959 comedy horror film A Bucket of Blood has been adapted for the stage by Mitch Brian as The Temperamental Artist.

It follows Walter Paisley, a bus boy at a beatnik café, who dreams of being an artist. After accidentally killing his landlady’s cat, he covers it with clay and passes it off as sculpture and suddenly finds himself an overnight success.
