Long before Glee came FAME!

Chatswood Musical Soociety (NSW) presents FAME - The Musical, an energetic stage musical set at New York City’s famous High School of Performing Arts, at the Gillian Moore Centre for Performing Arts, Pymble Ladies’ College from October 2 – 5, 2013.

The show is inspired by the Academy Award-winning 1980 movie and features the Oscar-winning title song made famous by Irene Cara.

Formidable Real Life Team Stage CLOC Guys and Dolls

Chris and Lynette White are a formidable force in the Melbourne musical theatre community. Together and separately, they have helped shape and define the look, feel and direction of countless productions with leading Melbourne companies including Whitehorse, Dandenong, Catchment, Nova and CLOC. Their shows have earned them praise, admiration and a slew of theatrical nominations and awards.

Now they combine to stage CLOC Musical Theatre’s October 2013 production of Guys and Dolls.

Students Produce Company

George Furth & Stephen Sondheim’s Company is the next production for Sydney University Musical Theatre Ensemble (MUSE), to be performed from October 2nd – 12th at the King St Theatre, Newtown.

World premiere, Pinter and journey to hell all in one night

A TRIO of short plays plays at the Old Mill Theatre (WA) from September 19, 2013 – Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter, Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit and the world premiere of Noel O’Neill’s Snow and Ash.

Directed by Susie Conte, The Dumb Waiter, features Gus and Ben in a Birmingham basement, awaiting instructions for their next job. Gus needs matches while Ben has a newspaper – and both men have revolvers.

The Peach Season at Castle Hill

CLOC Rolls the Dice with Guys and Dolls

Following the sell-out success of their World Amateur Premiere of The Phantom of the Opera, CLOC Musical Theatre (Vic) shift gears, staging Guys and Dolls, one of the most enduring shows from the Golden Age of American Musicals, at the National Theatre in St Kilda from October 4 to 19 for its 99thproduction.

The classic musical fable featuresa motley bunch of colourful larger-than-life characters who inhabit Times Square – from missionaries to gamblers, actors to gangsters, rogues to chorus girls and everything in between.

Perth Pajama Game

Broadway musical The Pajama Game, based on the novel 7½ cents by Richard Bissell and George Abbot and featuring a score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, is the September production for Stirling Players (WA).

The Tony Award-winning 1954 Broadway hit deals with labour troubles in the Sleeptite Pajama Factory, where worker demands for a seven-and-a-half cents raise go unheeded.  In the midst of this ordeal, love blossoms between Babe, the grievance committee head, and Sid, the new superintendent.
