Our Town at Hunters Hill

A landmark in American drama, Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town tells the story of a small town, Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, in order to tell us the story of every town, the whole world over. Narrated by the “Stage Manager”, we follow the Gibbs and Webb families, residents of Grover’s Corners, through twelve years of life changes -- from the mundane in Act I, “Daily Life,” to the romantic in Act II, “Love and Marriage,” to the finale in Act III, “Death and Eternity.”

2019 Finley Awards

The 2019 Finley Awards will be held at The Heath Ledger Theatre, State Theatre Centre of WA on January 18, 2020.

This year there are even more awards up for grabs because the DramaFest Awards will now be presented on the Finley Awards Night.

Death of a Salesman at Cronulla

The final production for 2019 at Arts Theatre Cronulla is Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller’s well-known tragedy about the troubled life of Willy Loman. Set in the 1940s, the story and setting of the play were inspired by events from Miller’s own life, in particular, the life of his salesman uncle and the Brooklyn house where Miller grew up 

13 The Musical at Bankstown

Bankstown Theatre Company is staging the exuberant and joyous coming-of-age musical, 13 The Musical, at the Bryan Brown Theatre from October 16 – 20, 2019.

With music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, and book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn, 13 The Musical is the only Broadway musical ever with a cast entirely consisting of teenagers.

More Neil Simon Comedy for Galleon Audiences

Adelaide’s Galleon Theatre Group focuses on comedy with a touch of darkness and has presented Neil Simon’s plays many times in the past, including Rumours, a production that achieved the Adelaide Theatre Guide 2015/16 Best Comedy award.

Galleon’s audiences love Simon’s plays and this October and November the multi-award-winning company is embracing his work again by producing The Prisoner of Second Avenue. Galleon brings to life this classic comedy at the company’s regular venue, Domain Theatre, at the Marion Cultural Centre.

Fiddler on the Roof at Willoughby

Willoughby Theatre Company will bring the legendary musical Fiddler on the Roof back to Sydney’s North Shore during October 2019. 

The production will be the first time in almost 40 years that the company has presented the classic Broadway musical on stage.

Fiddler on the Roof is a show steeped in tradition and Director Andrew Benson says the company plans to breathe new life into this timeless musical when it hits The Concourse Theatre stage in Chatswood.

Lots of Laughter Still Present in Coward Classic

A PLAYFUL reflection on fame, desire and loneliness from Noël Coward is ready to serve up the laughs at the Old Mill Theatre (WA) in September and October 2019.

Directed by Barry Park, Present Laughter focuses on self-obsessed actor Garry Essendine as friends, lovers, relatives and theatre colleagues rally around him.

As a series of almost farcical events unfold, his elegant London flat is invaded by a love-struck ingénue, determined producer, adulterous manager and married seductress.
