One Act Festival for Port Macquarie

One Act Festival for Port Macquarie

Players Theatre Port Macquarie is forging ahead for its One Act Play Festival 2017 based at their Lord Street 250 seat theatre. The Festival committee has received much interest and enquiry and as a result are well on the way to staging a very successful Festival on the June long weekend, 9th,10th & 11th June 2017.

Jacqui Davis, Festival Co-ordinator, is keen to get the word out to as many Community Theatre groups to place an entry and join us for three days of clever and creative productions.

Ms Davis said “If you would like to come to beautiful Port Macquarie then register your interest now! Please contact any theatre groups, schools, thespians you know. The Participants Pack is available on our web site http://www.playerstheatre.org.au.

New entry fee is $50 .00 with a major prize for Best Production of $1000.”

The Festival committee is thrilled that Lesly Stevenson from ‘DAPA on Beaumont’ in Newcastle is the adjudicator, as one of the important elements of the One Act Play Festival is providing valuable feedback and support for all participants.

Entries close 5pm Saturday 1st April 2017 and email your enquiries to festival@playerstheatre.org.au

“Across the nation there is a vibrant variety of community theatre groups and the Players Theatre believe that events like the One Act Play Festival is the perfect way to exchange ideas and get a taste for the rich talent that is out there,” said Ms Davis.

“The Festival runs over five sessions concluding with a presentation ceremony. Each session will consist of 3 plays with a short break in between. This may change depending on the number of entries. Tickets will be available to purchase for each session, a Festival day pass and a weekend Festival pass for a discounted price. We love to thank people for coming and engender a sense of camaraderie by staging the ‘Festival Welcome and Drinks’  on Friday 9th June, 7:30pm. This is a great opportunity for all participants to network and socialize with other groups, meet the adjudicator and Players President Sue Morvan,” said Ms Davis.

Players Theatre has a proud tradition of staging quality shows for over 50 years in its own complex which is all volunteer run. Each year they stage five musicals and plays and have nurtured up and coming talent both behind the scenes in the technical area and on stage.

The 2017 season started with the classic panto Puss In Boots in January, followed by the comedy Jack The Ripper in March, the musical Into The Woods, the One Act Play Festival in June, The Vicar Of Dibley 2 and Spamalot with Five Women Wearing The Same Dress wrapping up the year in November.
