Quest for Don Quixote at Castle Hill

Quest for Don Quixote at Castle Hill

The Castle Hill Players (NSW) launch their 2014 season with a fantastical and theatrical world premiere production of Don Quixote, adapted by Larry Buttrose, from the famous Miguel Cervantes novel.

Don Quixote is a dreamer, a man who lives for the long lost golden age of chivalry. Determined to right the world’s wrongs and win the love of his fair Dulcinea, Don Quixote embarks on a knightly quest accompanied only by his faithful squire Sancho Panza. Their journey takes them across the length and breadth of Spain, where they encounter a panoply of characters both wicked and wonderful. This literary classic, entertaining and heartwarming, is brought to vivid life with music, dance, puppetry and sleight of hand.

“It’s been a pleasure and a privilege bringing this timeless classic to life on the Pavilion stage,’ says director Jeremy Johnson. ‘This story has something for everyone – laughter, tears, swordfights and philosophy. It appeals to every age, and everyone who’s still young at heart.”

Don Quixote opens at the Pavilion Theatre on January 24th and runs until February 15th. Performances are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8.15 pm, and Sunday matinee at 4.30 pm. Tickets are $26/$21, and available online at paviliontheatre.org.au, or via the booking office on 9634 2929.

The Pavilion Theatre is located on Castle Hill Showground, near the Harvey Lowe Pavilion. With construction now underway for the new railway, access to the theatre has now changed. Entrance is now via Showground Road, at the new traffic lights. Please follow the roadsigns around the works for the new rail link.
