ROBERT YOUNG: A LIFE ON STAGE MEMORIAL CONCERT

The Arts Centre, Gold Coast– 17^th December, 2013

Last night, Theatre devotees on the Gold Coast paid homage to the life of the former Arts Centre Resident Director, Robert Young, who passed away at his home in New Zealand on 1^stDecember from Prostate Cancer.

For over 20 years Robert directed and choreographed Musical Productions on the Coast, sharing his knowledge and experience in nurturing the talented young cast and crew.

The Memorial Concert was a tribute from some of his former students and a fitting recognition of Robert’s long association with the Gold Coast.

Through Robert’s efforts The Arts Centre held an annual Summer School where students could learn from the cream of the Australian Entertainment Industry; the climax of each Summer School was a production by the student cast, crew and musicians.

Many of these performers went on to become Professional Artists both nationally and internationally. Admission to the Memorial Concert was by gold coin and the proceeds will go the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
