Spring Awakening: Rock Musical for Javeenbah

Racy themes, dynamic acting and live rock music make Spring Awakening a brave but fitting way for the Javeenbah Theatre Company (Qld Gold Coast) to end their 2012 theatrical season.

Spring Awakening runs from November 9th to 24th. The coming-of-age Broadway hit won eight Tony Awards in 2007 and Javeenbah introduces the rock musical as part of their commitment to performing ‘cutting edge’ productions.

Bah! Humbug! Scrooge Musical for Perth

A MUSICAL re-telling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol takes the stage at Melville Theatre (WA) from November 16.

Directed by Neroli Burton, Scrooge is closely adapted from the music and screenplay from the 1970 film of the same name.

It follows the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge who, through greed, has lost all that is good but undergoes redemption on Christmas Eve after being visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

Naughty Puppet Musical for Perth

WITH strong themes such as racism, pornography, homosexuality and puppet sex, Roleystone Theatre’s production November production of Avenue Q is definitely aimed at adults and mature teenagers in the south-eaxt suburbs of Perth (WA).

The production team says the show is great for teenagers because it deals with real life –but parents should use their discretion based on the maturity of their children.

Beauty and the Beast for Coffs Harbour.

Coffs Harbour Musical Comedy Company (CHMCC) on the NSW North Coast is producing one of their biggest shows to date, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, from November 9, 2012.

While the company has done some fairly ambitious shows in the last couple of years; rock operas like Jesus Christ Superstar and Rent, and classics like Oliver! and Cabaret, this is their first Disney.

Murder and Music to Entertain at Eltham

Eltham Little Theatre’s end-of-year dinner and show offers a generous serving of murder mystery garnished with a touch of jazz and soul from November 15.

Suspense-loving audience members who sample Murder at the Music Hall will sit at tables of six or eight enjoying dinner and drinks they've brought along.

Third Brigadoon for Queanbeyan Players

The Queanbeyan Players’ second production for 2012 (from November 2 to 17) is Lerner and Lowe’s Brigadoon. This will be the third production of Brigadoon for the NSW company (Queanbeyan is 15km from Canberra), having previously performed Lerner and Loewe in 1995 and 1980. And thanks to the Players’ friendly approach and family-like atmosphere, there are several people who have been involved in all three productions.
