Sorority House of the Dead

Sorority House of the Dead

Welcome to 1987 and Rush Week at Hamilton College. The Sorority of Delta Pi Sigma are holding their rushee function and young ladies wanting to become a part of the campus elite have all applied to join. Attendance at this party is mandatory and ladies are just dying to get in.

Dark Psychic Productions and Phoenix Theatre Inc. (Hamilton Hill, WA) present the Australian Premiere of Mitch Brian’s Sorority House of the Dead from August 29, 2013.

Directed by Ryan S McNally and assisted by Emma Muller, this black comedy is a sarcastic raise of the eyebrow to the horror genre of the 80s. It’s the hair, the fashion, those college girls with the oh so red lips and the pointy teeth to match.

It’s time for sorority initiations! And that means fresh, new blood - new pledges that is. Who will survive the terrifying all-night lock down in the decaying mansion on Sorority Hill? What horrors await young girls who just want to have fun? Our lips are sealed! Help us 'revive' the 80s and a new wave of terror!

Fresh from the sell-out success of Maul of the Dead featuring zombies in May, director Ryan S McNally couldn’t wait to get his teeth into vampires and get the fake blood out of the props cupboard again. “Vampires seem to be the in thing at the moment, yet ours don’t sparkle,” he said.

“I think the genre is something that you don’t usually see onstage. Times have changed and we are trying to reach for that new audience, because the younger generation is the future of the theatre world. The cast get to have a lot of fun with the script and are delving into their characters enthusiastically well.”

Involved in theatre since high school, McNally has performed with Phoenix Theatre, Shine Studios and Herding Cats Productions in a variety of shows and started Dark Psychic Productions last year to deliver interactive live theatre including The Mocky Horror Monsters’ Ball!

Suitable for all ages 13 years and over, the seven show season commences at the Memorial Hall, corner Rockingham Road and Carrington Street in Hamilton Hill on Friday August 30. Tickets can be purchased through
