Twelve Angry Men for Richmond

Twelve Angry Men for Richmond

Iconic play Twelve Angry Men, adapted by Sherman L Sergelfrom the teleplay by Reginald Rose, is Playhouse Players’ August 2014 production at the Richmond Theatrette (Vic).

The play, concerning the deliberations of the jury in a homicide trial, explores many techniques of consensus-building, and the difficulties encountered in the process, among a group of men whose range of personalities adds intensity and conflict.

No names are used and the jury members are identified by number until two of them exchange names at the very end, the defendant is referred to as "the boy", and the witnesses as "the old man" and "the lady across the street".

Director Andrew Burns is bringing the play to the stage with the twelve jurors who from all walks of life find it difficult to reach a unanimous decision of guilty or not guilty. Character traits are exposed and emotions run high as they deliberate to reach a decision.

The cast features Pat Chirico, Matthew Coote, David Efron, Bob Garbett, Stewart Jaques, Nicholas Jaquinot, John Jones, Paul Kennedy, Richard Mealey, Evan Mizzi, Joshua Orpin, Warren Pryer and Jesse Roach.

August 1 – 9, 2014 at the Richmond Theatrette, 415 Church Street, Richmond
