ONCE IS ENOUGH.

The first launch of the smash hit Tony award musical ONCE, coming to Melbourne in Oct, gave us Guinness, champagne, Irish music and academy award winner Glen Hansard. Coral Drouyn was there to soak up the atmosphere and the champagne (one was enough).

The Production Company Season 2014

Jeanne Pratt AC, Chairman of The Production Company, has announced her Company’s 2014 season.

‘Three very different musicals are coming to Melbourne for our 2014 Season. Spanning sixty years of Broadway creativity, they are three of my favourite Broadway classics. Guys and Dolls opens our season on July 19, Show Boat opens on August 16 and our third musical is La Cage Aux Folles, which opens on November 22.

‘To star in these musicals, we have engaged artists who will shine and enchant our audiences.

Strictly Ballroom The Musical: The Composers

Director Baz Luhrmann, currently hard at work in the rehearsal room at Carriageworks, has announced composers he and co-writer Craig Pearce have collaborated with on original songs for STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL.

Australian audiences will hear new music and lyrics from composers including Australia’s own Elliott Wheeler, Sia Furler and Eddie Perfect along with American songwriters David Foster and Diane Warren, who between them have won all the most prestigious music awards including Golden Globe, Emmy and Grammy Awards.

Sydney to Host Premiere of Matilda The Musical

Matilda The Musical will have its Australian Premiere at Sydney Lyric Theatre in August 2015, NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell announced today (February 27, 2014).

Strictly Sydney Celebrates Strictly Ballroom

Australia’s largest outdoor ballroom dancing event took place on the Northern and Western Broadwalks of the Sydney Opera House on Sunday February 23, creating a world record when hundreds of couples performed a specially choreographed Strictly Sydney moment.

This event, under the direction of Baz Luhrmann, celebrated the forthcoming opening of Strictly Ballroom The Musical, which previews at Sydney Lyric Theatre from 25 March, 2014.
