Sydney's Belvoir Street Theatre was the big winner at the Helpmann Awards held in Melbourne for the first time - taking out 12 awards including the double of Best Play and Best Musical.

Voters snubbed blockbuster international productions such as Harry Potter and Cursed Child instead voting for original Australian productions.

Shrek The Musical in 2020.

Theatre producer John Frost has announced that the Broadway hit SHREK THE MUSICAL is coming to Australia. This lavish multi-million dollar musical will open at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star in early January 2020, followed by seasons at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne and the Lyric Theatre, Brisbane.
