Griffin Theatre Company Season 2020

In 2020 Griffin Theatre Company celebrates the 50th birthday of the Stables Theatre and presents a Main Season of five plays featuring fresh new perspectives, heartbreak, adventure and life-affirming joy.

Griffin’s Artistic Director Lee Lewis says, “The 2020 Season is not a looking back, but a looking forward. Our playwrights have questions for you, challenges for you, laughter to share with you and hope and visions of the future to offer you.”

Malthouse Theatre Season 2020

From the backstreets of Melbourne’s northern suburbs to the depths of Antarctica, a Scottish Shakespearean spectacle to Oscar Wilde’s most famous comedy of lies, Malthouse Theatre brings history, culture, politics, subversion, great odysseys and truth-telling together under one roof in 2020.

2020 marks a milestone for the company: 30 years of Melbourne’s most provocative theatre company occupying one of the city’s most iconic buildings.

Opera Australia and John Frost to Present Two Classic Musicals in 2020

Following their successful collaboration with EvitaMy Fair LadyThe King and ISouth Pacific and Anything Goes, Opera Australia and John Frost will be presenting two musicals in 2020.

Jekyll & Hyde Cast Announced

A star-studded cast including some of Australia’s most celebrated Opera, Television, Film and Music Theatre performers will join Anthony Warlow and Jemma Rix in Jekyll & Hyde, to be staged in October in Melbourne and November in Sydney 2019, Concertworks announced today.

Opera Queensland Season 2020.

A new Australian opera cabaret, an Australian musical, a story of profound love and a visually dazzling classic are the centrepiece of Opera Queensland’s Season 2020.

The program is anchored by four main stage productions – LoreleiBran Nue DaeTristan und Isolde and Aida – complimented by a new Concert Series, a regional tour of 2019’s hit production of Tosca and an expanded education and community engagement.

Queensland Theatre Season 2020

Queensland Theatre has launched its Season 2020, the Company’s 50th season of stage stories and the final under the artistic directorship of Sam Strong. 

“Season 2020 confirms Queensland Theatre as the national home of new stories, with 50 percent of the season being world premieres,” said Strong.

OzAsia Festival 2019

Thirty-five Adelaide exclusives including five world-first performances and 22 Australian premieres are among 60 events being held as part of Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival 2019 – Australia’s leading contemporary arts festival engaging with Asia.

Held from October 17 to November 3, the 13th annual OzAsia Festival will feature 850 artists from more than 20 countries in a line-up of boundary-pushing works across music, theatre and dance to film, literature and visual art.   

Ensemble Theatre Season 2020

Mark Kilmurry, Artistic Director, Ensemble Theatre has announced the theatre’s 2020 Season which, says Kilmurry, “will be a season of forty of Australia’s most talented actors in eleven plays of firsts and lasts, classics and comedies including eight new works, seven brilliant comedies, three much-loved classics plus a collaboration for the first time with Sydney Festival.  

Three Weeks in Spring

The Anzac legend of Simpson and his Donkey is being staged theatrically at Sydney’s State Theatre this month in the World Premiere of a new musical Three Weeks in Spring.  David Spicer spoke to one of the creators Ian Gerrard.
