Elaine Paige to Tour Australia in October

Musical Theatre legend Elaine Paige will be returning to Australia in October 2012, following the success of her 2009 tour.

Elaine Paige is a bona fide legend of musical theatre. Making her West End debut in 1968 she was thrust into stardom when she originated the role of Evita Perón in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1978 production of Evita, winning the Laurence Oliver Award for Performer of the Year. Paige followed up by creating the role of Grizabella in the record-breaking production Cats, recording the Top 10 hit song “Memory”.

In 1985 Paige and Barbara Dixon released “I Know Him So Well” from their production of Chess which remains the biggest selling UK Chart single ever by a female duo. Paige has starred in numerous West End and Broadway productions including Anything Goes, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard in London and Broadway, The King and I, Sweeney Todd, The Misanthrope, Where There’s A Will and The Drowsy Chaperone.

Paige has performed in sell-out concerts worldwide from The White House to The Great Hall of the People in Beijing and Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre. She has appeared in many television roles including her own TV specials and Royal Variety Shows. Paige is a successful recording artist with 4 multi Platinum and 8 consecutive Gold albums and 6 cast albums. Paige has also been honoured with a number of awards including an OBE for services to Musical Theatre in 1995.

Elaine Paige’s 2012 Australian tour will recreate many of her starring roles in the biggest musicals of the modern era, in a celebration of a life on the stage.
