2017 Helpmann Award Nominees

The countdown to the 17th Annual Helpmann Awards is on, following the announcement of the 2017 Helpmann Award Nominees on June 19.

The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia’s vibrant live performance industry and recognise distinguished achievement and excellence in Australia’s live performance sectors including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentation for children, regional touring and cabaret.

Geordie Brookman Introduces Creative Ensemble in 2017

2017 marks a new direction for State Theatre Company of SA, with the formation of a Creative Ensemble - a group of actors and creatives taking residence to work on a number of productions and creative developments in 2017 and 2018. 2017 Tony Award Winners

The 71st Antoinette Perry Awards – the 2017 Tonys - were presented at Radio City Music Hall, New York on June 11, during a ceremony hosted by Kevin Spacey.

Dear Evan Hansen won the Tony Award for Best Musical, also winning in five other categories.

Hello, Dolly! won the award for Best Revival of a Musical, while Bette Middler took home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her performance in the title role, amongst the productions total of four awards.

2017 Adelaide Cabaret Festival Opens

Adelaide Festival Centre’s 2017 Adelaide Cabaret Festival opens this weekend, with 147 performances featuring 58 international artists and 372 Australian artists over the next 16 days and nights, from June 9 to 24.

Grand old dame Her Majesty’s Theatre plays host to the completely sold-out Variety Performance Gala at 8pm on Friday and Saturday nights. The red carpet will roll out again on Saturday afternoon for attendees of all ages at the Family Gala
