2015 HELPMANN AWARDS NOMINATED MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCES

The winners of the 2015 Helpmann Awards will be announced at the ceremony event on Monday 27 July at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on the set of Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Les Misérables.

2015 HELPMANN AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Nominees for the 2015 Helpmann Awards were announced at simultaneous events in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, and Hobart on June 22, 2015 by some of Australia’s biggest names of the performing arts sector, including Caroline O’Connor, Simon Gleeson, Wesley Enoch, Annette Downs, Michael Griffiths, and Suzie Mather.

Ali McGregor and Eddie Perfect Co-Artistic Directors for Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2016 and 2017

On the final night of Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2015, Artistic Director Barry Humphries took to the stage to announce he is handing over the role of Artistic Director to Ali McGregor and Eddie Perfect, who will be co-Artistic Directors for the Festival in 2016 and 2017.

This year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival had more than 350 artists performing with 46 sold out shows and was the highest grossing festival in its 15 year history.

A New Brad and Janet

Far More Than The Bear Necessities of Fun For Adelaide Kids

Children are invited to bring their own teddy bears along to the Space Theatre when Brisbane ukelele duo *Tyrone and Wesley deliver this playful and interactive musical tribute to the teddy bear.

The Sound of Music Cast Announced

The lavish London Palladium production of The Sound of Music comes to Australia later this year, opening at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney from December 13, 2015, with a season at Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre from March 11, 2016.

The cast will be led by Amy Lehpamer as Marina Rainer and Cameron Daddo, alongside Marina Prior as Baroness Schraeder, Jacqueline Dark as Mother Abbess, Lorraine Bayly as Frau Schmidt and David James as Max Detweiler.

Leisl will be played by Stefanie Jones and Rolf by newcomer Du Toit Bredenkamp.

2015 Tony Award Winners

Actors Kristin Chenoweth (also a nominee), and Alan Cumming hosted Broadway’s 2015 Tony Awards at Radio City Musical Hall, New York, on June 7.

The Tony for Best Musical was taken out by Fun Home, while The King and I was recognized as Best Revival of a Musical.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time won the Tony for Best Play, while Skylight won the award for Best Revival of a Play.
