Perry’s Young Stars
Are you a young performer frustrated at the lack of junior roles in amateur theatre? Or perhaps you are a beginner looking for a supportive and fun theatre company to gain experience? Maybe you’re a parent who would love your child to star in a real theatre production?
Then Perry’s Young Stars is what you’re looking for!
The company evolved in 2005 when school performing arts teacher, Rebecca Perry, struggled to find an outlet for her students’ creative enthusiasm. She found that although most schools produce a show each year, the competition was always high and often younger students didn’t get a look-in. Rebecca also knew that amateur companies rarely perform shows with substantial children’s roles.
In Young Stars, full productions are rehearsed and performed through weekly rehearsal classes and a short, fun performance season. Each production is a double-bill, allowing Juniors (5-11 yrs) and Seniors (11-18 yrs) to perform in well-loved shows using high quality production resources.
Some past shows have included Annie, Peter Pan, Hating Alison Ashley and Disney favourites High School Musical, Aladdin and The Aristocats.
Based in Templestowe, Melbourne, Perry’s Young Stars is a family-friendly environment. They offer generous family discounts and are thrilled to have many sets of siblings attend classes.
They accept performers of all levels. There are no auditions to be a part of the chorus.
The program for 2010 includes a Summer Production, Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and othe main performance season of Disney’s Beauty & the Beast coupled with Honk Jr.
