The Addams Family

Charles Addams’ dysfunctional cartoon family have come to life on the Gold Coast in a ghoulish production of The Addams Family.

This bizarre family consists of the eternally romantic Gomez, Daniel O’Connell; Morticia, Cat Deller; Uncle Fester, George Pulley; Grandmama, Kara Holdom; Wednesday, Chloe Smith; Pugsley, Tahlia Gibson and Lurch, Lawrie Sayer. 

Directors Jay Ahrens and Susan Austin, together with Musical Director Taylor Holmes and Choreographer Jo De Goldi, have given us a fun filled insight into the ghoulish goings on when the Addams and their ethereal ancestors (they are dead, but they won’t lie down) meet Wednesday’s boyfriend’s family.

The set is the interior of a two storey Gothic style house, complete with recreational torture equipment and its fair share of cobwebs. All of this is enhanced by Shirley Whitehouse’s costumes and Ann-Britt Riget’s wigs.

In keeping with the theme, the Theatre foyer is adorned with cobwebs and various bugs and vermin and a coffin complete with protruding hand.

For a theatre experience like no other, a visit to The Addams Family is not to be missed.
