Blanc de Blanc

Blanc de Blanc
Directed by Scott Maidment. Regal Theatre, Subiaco, WA. 29 Sep - 23 Oct, 2016

Blanc de Blanc would be best enjoyed with a sexy companion and a few glasses of champagne. A sexy blend of cabaret, burlesque, circus and tease, it is full of surprise.

Compared by the suave and very nice looking Monsieur Romeo, who speaks French with a beautiful baritone and slow enough for me to understand, it features a plethora of very talented performers, including the very funny Spencer Novice, Emma Maye Gibson - whose 'I Will Survive' is a showstopper, stunning aerialists Hampus Jansson and Milena Straczynski, Mash Terentieva whose performance with a luggage cart is breathtaking, contortionist Shun Sugimoto and J’aiMime and Laura New who deliver some snappy burlesque performances.

This show looks great with Philip Gladwell’s multilevel set and frenetic lighting top notch and exciting, James Browne’s costumes are very sexy and beautifully co-ordinated and Steve Toulmin has chosen music that is exciting and pacy - although occasionally a little too loud. Choreography (Kevin Maher) is clever and well executed.

The audience loved this pacy and exciting show. The Regal isn’t always friendly to this production as some of the action takes place on the floor or in the audience and with the shallow slope of this auditorium, it can be difficult to see. This show is not for everyone - it is 18 plus for a reason, and there was a notable exodus at interval - having said that, it received a very enthusiastic standing ovation - very rare in Perth and I could see a cult following in the making.

This champagne themed show, bubbles with enthusiasm, energy and talent. Grab a loved one and a glass of French wine and sit towards the front for a night that will not disappoint.
