Livvy and Pete: The Songs of Olivia Newton John and Peter Allen

Livvy and Pete: The Songs of Olivia Newton John and Peter Allen
Fringe World. De Parel Spiegeltent, The Pleasure Garden, Russell Square, Northbridge, WA. Feb 5-12, 2018

Livvy and Pete celebrates the songs of two of Australia’s most iconic singing exports, in a fun and vibrant show that has the audience thoroughly involved.

Performers Michael Griffiths and Amelia Ryan have excellent chemistry, have a gorgeously laconic and self-deprecating delivery and have an obvious passion for Olivia Newton John and Peter Allen. They both sing superbly and have charm in bucket-loads.

The show includes the best of Livvy and Pete’s songs including songs from Xanadu and Grease and of course “Physical”, and “Tenterfield Saddler”, “I Still Call Australia Home” and “I Go To Rio”. There is also time for a bit of ‘Livvy Trivvy’ - facts about Olivia Newton John, insights into Peter Allen’s life and we learn lots about the performers and their lives.

I caught the show at their last Perth performance, a Monday “matinee” and the audience were decidedly “mature”. This did not stop the show having a party atmosphere and the audience had an absolute ball.

Livvy and Pete is a terrific tribute cabaret by performers with talent to burn. A great night out for all ages.
