ME PREGNANT

ME PREGNANT
Written and Performed by Nick Coyle. The Old Fitzroy Theatre (NSW). April 7 – 23, 2011 A twisted Troubadour concocts a bizarre tale.

A twisted Troubadour concocts a bizarre tale.

ME PREGNANT is a wicked cocktail of Canterbury Tales, Frankenstein and Summer Heights High.

Nick Coyle is our spellbinding guide through this bizarre and hilarious tall tale. He emerges like the Golem from a tiny hole under the front seats, and then he uses one of the seating areas of the Old Fitz as his area of play. The audience is seated in reverse to the usual pattern at the Old Fitz.  Strange and wonderful music, sound effects, voice, song and dance and simple, yet very effective lighting, enhances Nick’s performance as he cavorts, laughs and cries his way through telling us of the birth of a strange monster and how the world reacted to it and how it reacted to the world.

The tale is riveting, as is Nick’s performance. He plays all the characters and draws us ever deeper into his impossible and beautiful world, with constant mood and shape shifts, using all the space available to him. Just when a section of the tale reaches a climax, Nick shifts tempo and goes down an even more unexpected pathway. Expect constant delight!

At the charming bar of the friendly Old Fitz pub after the show Nick told me he had always wanted the challenge of a one man show and had developed ME PREGNANT to showcase his talents and captivate his audience. He has succeeded. Don’t miss this show.
