Moving On Inc.
Moving On Inc. was a lovely surprise package in the Fringe World Festival - a beautifully realised one act play, outstandingly performed and wonderfully charming.
A play about memory and love, set in the Australian bush, this three-hander tells the story of Abby, whose job it is to clean up the estates of the deceased, her boyfriend Sam, who has secrets and the mysterious Ruth, who may just be a memory.
Superbly acted by all, current WAAPA students Harriet Gordon-Andserson and Barnaby Pollock work seamlessly together and their interactions with Nicola Bartlett's Ruth are wonderfully complex.
Simply staged in the Blue Room's theatre, with no set of which to speak, Joe Lui's sound and lighting is supportive and writer/director Mikala Westall paces her work with great feeling.
I would love to see this script marketed to the community theatres around Australia, as I can imagine this expertly constructed short play being very successful in one-act play festivals, in the hands of talented directors and casts.
Moving On Inc. was one of the highlights of my Fringe World experience.
