Piccolo Tales

Piccolo Tales
Piccolo Bar, Potts Point. Tuesdays and Thursdays February to May 2015.

In a theatrical age of pop-up theatre, doco-drama and confronting immersive reality experiences Piccolo Tales ticks all the boxes and delivers the ultimate intimate live experience about a person and a place. The audience of just twenty people, ten inside and ten outside, are taken on a journey through the life of Vittorio, who has been a proprietor of the Piccolo Cafe for over fifty years. Triumphant from her recent 'Mum's In: Stories from Razorhurst' show in Kings Cross Hotel, Vashti Hughes plays Vittorio through the decades from the sixties until today and tells tales of the cafe and the characters of the Cross who both inhabited this place and made their mark on the area. Through words and song Vashti becomes these characters and gets up close and personal with her audience - which is unavoidable in this tiny space. She is amazing! Director James Winter has crafted another wonderful show which is not only entertaining, but also informs us about an important person and place and their time together. Abe Saffron's job interview is hilarious! As is Vashti’s ‘F**k you’ rap song. This is an unforgettable experience, not to be missed.
