The Wiz - King’s School Production, Remuera, New Zealand

After 12 weeks of lively rehearsals, 50 boys from ages 9 to 13 prepared to take the King’s School community by storm with their extravagant production of The Wiz, with five sell-out performances in July.
The Wiz is based on the film version of the popular Broadway musical that retells the events of L. Frank Baum’s classic novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”.
This production was a vivid and spectacular version of this popular story. The young actors performed, danced and sang with talent defying their age and always with incredible energy and enthusiasm. The costumes, make-up effects, UV painted bodies and specially-designed set provided them with a dramatic background to complement their performance, and the special lighting and sound effects provided the audience with constant drama and action as the show demanded. A full band of 20 boys also played the musical score during the show.
It was a memorable and exhilarating show demonstrating the depth of talent at the school with so many boys taking part on stage and in the Band.
