Enda Markey will present Geraldine Turner Turner’s Turner at Hayes Theatre Co for three performances only on Sunday 22 February, Sunday 1 March and Sunday 8 March, 2015 as part of A Month of Sundays, Hayes Theatre Co’s cabaret in residence.

Geraldine Turner is a true icon of Australian show business. Throughout a career that spans four decades, she has earned her place as one of this country's most legendary leading ladies.

Prior to its Hayes Theatre season, Everybody Loves Lucy also plays at Glen Street Theatre on March 10 at 11 am.

GLUGS Annual Theatre Awards 2015

Sydney theatre group The Glugs, now in their 48th year, presented the Glugs Theatre Awards, based on performances in 2014, on February 2, 2015 at the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel/Masonic Club in Sydney. Over 90 people crowded into the Reagh Bar for the presentation of the Glugs' Awards. Presenters were: David Sale; Sandra Bates; Ian Phipps; Nancye Hayes; Merran Doyle; Marika Aubrey; Rose Peterson; Tony Sheldon; Beverley Davies; Dr Bill Winspear; Donna Lee; Bunny Gibson: James Wright and Lee Young.

THE LION KING BREAKS QPAC RECORD

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) today announced the Brisbane season of The Lion King has smashed box office records making it the highest grossing show in the Centre’s 30 year history.

The production also had the second highest total audience for any show presented over the three decades.

Marion Potts Leaves Malthouse

Malthouse Theatre’s Artistic Director Marion Potts will leave the company at the end of March to take up a senior position with the Australia Council for the Arts.

Upon finishing her tenure with Malthouse Theatre, Marion will take up the prestigious role of Director of Theatre with Australia’s national arts funding body.

Hayley Mills and Juliet Mills in Australian Premiere of Legends

Producer John Frost has announced the return to the Australian stage by Hayley Mills and Juliet Mills. The sisters will star in a national tour of the Australian Premiere of James Kirkwood’s comedy Legends! The Australian Premiere opens in Brisbane at QPAC in May for a strictly limited season, followed by seasons in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne. Tickets are on sale from 9 February.

Rocky Horror Returns to Melbourne in 2015

Producers Howard Panter and John Frost have announced that Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show would return to the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne in 2015 due to popular demand. Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show played a sold out Melbourne season from April to July this year, and was forced to close to enable its star, Craig McLachlan, to film season three of his hit TV series The Dr Blake Mysteries

Perth Season for Dirty Dancing

Australian theatre producer John Frost has announced that his new production of the iconic musical Dirty Dancing will be heading to Perth in August 2015 for a limited season at the Crown Theatre. Ten years after its world premiere in Sydney, Dirty Dancing returns to Australia opens at the Sydney Lyric Theatre on December 3, 2014, then tours to Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from 1 March 2015, the Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 27 May, and finally to the Crown Theatre, Perth from 2 August.
