EXPONIDA 2014: behind the scenes

EXPONIDA 2014: behind the scenes

See the next wave of creative talent in EXPONIDA 2014, a showcase of the magic that goes on behind the scenes of stage and screen.

EXPONIDA 2014 is an exhibition of the work created by NIDA’s graduating Design, Costume, Properties and Production students, as well as Master of Fine Arts Writing for Performance and Directing students.

Providing a rare insight into what goes on behind the scenes, the exhibition highlights the different disciplines, skill-sets and collaboration that goes into producing a piece of great theatre or film.

“The work you can see here demonstrates a confidence in the collaborative process – a key ingredient in the art form that all NIDA students have embarked upon”, commented Michael Scott-Mitchell, Head of Undergraduate Studies and Design.

On show will be student’s work in the form of puppets, props, short films, lighting displays, stage models, production designs, music videos and short films.

“The costumes that will be on display at EXPONIDA 2014 have been developed as part of class exercises as well as for productions. All the works show a beautiful diversity in each student’s interpretation of the original brief,” commented Fiona Reilly, Head of Costume, NIDA.

“They range widely in style, size and era – from a hand-made pair of 1910 shoes to a crinoline made from irrigation pipe.

“This exhibition is a brilliant showcase not only of the students’ mastery of skills, but also of their individuality and creativity.”

This is a unique opportunity to explore the world of theatre and film.
