NIDA Studio applications open in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane
Do you want to ignite your passion for the performing arts?
Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is now accepting applications for the intensive Studio courses in acting, physical theatre, filmmaking, musical theatre, screen acting, TV presenting, writing, directing and design.
This year for the first time NIDA is offering a new Advanced Actors Studio. In response to audience demands, the advanced studio has been created for people who have acting experience and would like further advanced training. With a class in-take of only 10 students and a focus on screen work including the development of a webisode series, the course gives students the opportunity to collaborate with experts and gain the practical knowledge needed to be industry-ready.
The six-month or one year Studio courses are designed to develop individual strengths, skills and techniques in the performing arts and are for those interested in a career in the industry.
NIDA Head of Open, Caroline Spence said this is a chance for passionate artists across Australia to nurture and develop their craft in a supportive environment.
‘We offer a very particular, independent training model, which touches on all aspects of the industry, so that once students are out of training they have the confidence and the knowledge to build a successful career. The course programs also include key elements of the well-known Higher Education Programs,’ said Caroline Spence.
‘Open to young people aged 15-18 and adults, in small and selective classes, Studio students learn and practice all the skills a working performer or creative professional will need.’
Entry to NIDA courses is highly competitive.
Auditions and interviews will be held in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney across December 2014 and January 2015.
