Cactus Flower Blossoms at Castle Hill

Cactus Flower Blossoms at Castle Hill

Castle Hill Players' fifth play for 2023 is the romantic comedy Cactus Flower.

Like a cactus, some people take years to blossom.

Late 60s Manhattan and groovy, young Toni has been let down by her dentist boyfriend, Julian, for the last time. Just when she’s given up on love, Julian decides she is the girl for him. Trouble is, he’s always played the field and his lies are about to catch up with him in a big way. Devoted and long-suffering dental receptionist, Stephanie, is willing to do anything to help her boss out, even if it means she too gets caught up in his ridiculous schemes.

A hippy boy next door, pushy patients and a vision of loveliness known only as Botticelli’s Springtime complete the chaotic crowd who learn that true love can be closer than you think.

Cactus Flower was a long running comedy on Broadway as well as a film starring Academy Award winner, Goldie Hawn.

Castle Hill Players invites you to enjoy a night of high-quality theatre in the romantic farce that is Cactus Flower.

“The only thing better than a love triangle would have to be a love quadrangle. It's just after the "Summer of Love" and the theme of older and younger lovers is emphasised by the changing taste in music and fashion. Love it,” says director Stephan Snars.
