Casablanca Radio Play for Brisbane Arts Theatre

Casablanca Radio Play for Brisbane Arts Theatre

Brisbane Arts Theatre’s opening production for 2013, from January 25, is Casablanca - A Radio Play.

Remember the chemistry between Bogart and Bergman, famous lines like “Here’s lookin’ at you, kid”, and of course, Sam’s rendition of ‘As Time Goes By’? In 2013 Brisbane Arts Theatre relives the romance, nostalgia and drama of Casablanca in a new format. Casablanca – A Radio Play brings to the stage one of popular culture’s most beloved films in the form of a radio play.

The classic tale of wartime love set in an exotic locale is being staged as it was originally broadcast to audiences in 1944 as a part of the “Lux Presents.... Hollywood” series. Brisbane Arts Theatre brings to its audience the romance of curmudgeonly nightclub owner Rick and his past love, the beautiful Isla, set against the backdrop of World War II.

Brisbane Arts Theatre on Petrie Terrace has been a part of Brisbane’s history for 76 years and provides the perfect arena, steeped in history to enjoy this production that not only brings to life the story of love during the War but the environment of the radio studio as performers went live to air.

Performances begin on January 25, 2013 and conclude with a special Valentine’s Day production on February 14.
