Chatswood Kids On Broadway

Chatswood Musical Society (NSW) presents Kids on Broadway, featuring an all-child cast of (almost) 50 singing the hit songs from best loved kids’ musicals, during the July holidays (July 7 to 15).

Following from its Best of Broadway and A Night on the West End shows (and fresh from a sell-out season of Miss Saigon at the Concourse), Kids on Broadway features performers aged 6-16 years old.

Kids on Broadwayis a cabaret-style show featuring a cast of 49 kids, singing songs from some of stage and screen musicals including Annie, The Little Mermaid, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, The Lion King and many, many more.

Songs include “Be Our Guest” (Beauty and the Beast), “We’re all in this Together” (High School Musical), “You Can’t Stop the Beat” (Hairspray), “Consider Yourself” (Oliver!), “Neverland” (Peter Pan) “Friend Like Me” (Aladdin) and a score of other toe-tapping, sing-out-loud hits.

Kids on Broadwayis directed and co-choreographed by Mel Warwick with Hayden Barltrop as musical director, Lisa Russell co-choreographer and Judy Roy production manager.

Mel told Stage Whispers she has relished the experience of working with a talented cast of 49 young performers in Kids on Broadway.

She has thoroughly enjoyed watching the children develop confidence, make friends, work together, and gain a variety of musical theatre skills.

"The performers are a great bunch of kids who have a lot of potential and who are going places in musical theatre," she said.

Mel looks forward to sharing the finished product with audiences young and old alike.

With Thursday, Saturday and Sunday night 7pm performances plus Sunday 2pm matinees, all seven performances are family-friendly.
