A Chorus Line at Manly

A Chorus Line at Manly

During May 2016, Manly Musical Society is staging the musical that redefined and re-invigorated modern musical theatre in the 1970s, going on to become Broadway’s longest running musical at the time.

A 10 time Tony award winning musical, A Chorus Line is inspired by the experiences of the real Broadway chorus, featuring 17 dancers - individuals with different stories, motivations, and flaws, all putting themselves on the line for 8 spots in a Broadway show.

With music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban, A Chorus Line features songs such as “Sing!” “One”, “At the Ballet” and “What I Did for Love”.

For first time Director Sam Ducker, who appeared in Manly's 2015 production of Company, directing has been an exciting experience.

"This is my first foray into directing. From day one the team have been supporting each other and our vision. The cast we have assembled have been phenomenal from the first rehearsal. This iconic show, however daunting, seems more exciting with every passing rehearsal. I cannot wait to see this project come to fruition - our team’s tireless work never ceases to amaze me."

The audition process drew performers from all over Sydney, vying for a part in this classic Broadway show. The cast members are:

Brittany Scrivner, Jospeh Nalty, Amy Gough, Nicole Yazbeck, Madeleine Norris, Martin Everett, Jonathan Hugeaud, Keely Soulsby, Alison Slater, Keira Connelly, Megan Mooney, Harrison Vaughan, Jacob Barn, Mateo Arias Restrepo, Bronte
