Finding Mr Wonderful

 at Javeenbah

Dating can be tough; especially when you’re in your 40s, working in a factory and caring for your bedridden mother who’s on the verge of Alzheimer’s.

In Javeenbah Theatre’s new play Mr Wonderful, unlucky in love Norma Green attempts to find her “Mr Wonderful” through a dating agency, with awkward results. The play centres on Norma’s desperation to find love while having to portion her time with her ailing mother.

Javeenbah regular Naomi Thompson, who plays Norma, says it’s shaping up to be a great show.

Mr Wonderful is very funny but also very poignant,” she said.

“Audiences will love the characters, the humour and the surprises in the plot.

“Let’s just say there are recurring themes about liquorice allsorts, a mad cyclist, screws and a teddy bear…,” Mrs Thompson said.

The comedy is written by James Robson and directed by Gold Coaster Gaye Gay, who is excited for the September 26thopening.

“The best part of the show is finding the marvellous sense of humour the playwright infused into the lines of the play,” Gaye said.

“Making an audience laugh or cry are two of the feats that an actor can achieve and we do both in this show,” she said.

“It’s a pleasure to be part of this on-stage family and to be working with actors of such high calibre.

“We hope that you will join us in September and October for a great night out,” she said.

Mr Wonderful runs from September 26th—October 11th 2014.
