Gold Coast Into the Woods goes into the Library

Into the Woods (music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine) opens at the Gold Coast Little Theatre on 2 February, 2012, directed by Joshua McCann-Thomson with musical direction by Ethan Jones and choreography by Tess Burke.

Into the Woods is one of those shows that music theatre nerds obsess over,” says young Gold Coast director Josh McCann-Thomson,” a big Sondheim fan.

To Whom It May Concern Reaps Drama Festival Rewards

The Mousetrap Theatre Company in Redcliffe, Queensland chose To Whom It May Concern by Daniel Keene as its entry into the Murrumba Drama Festival in 2012.

Sandra Hines, the Director, had first seen this play at La Boite Theatre many years before and knew that, with the right cast, this play would make a very strong, emotional impact on all who saw it.

What do you get when you combine a “Top Dog”, a “Naval Officer” and a “Tap-a-holic”?

Three Entertainment Luminaries who generously shared their experiences and “tips of the trade” with the cream of the Gold Coast Community Theatre Family.

Val Lehman, Ian Stenlake and Jack Webster were guests of the Gold Coast for a Master class and the Awards Presentation evening and a nicer and more approachable group of thespians would be hard to find.

The Victorian Drama League Awards: 2012 Winners.

Williamstown Little Theatre’s production of Doubt; A Parable by John Patrick Shanley, which took out at total of eight awards including the Best Drama Production was the big winner at the 2012 Victorian Drama League Awards presented on Sunday December 2 at a presentation dinner at Merrimu Receptions,Dandenong Rd, Murrumbeena.

Eltham Little Theatre’s production of Moonlight and Magnolias by Ron Hutchinson took out the Best Comedy Production gong, one of four awards for the production.

 

 

 

 

Plaza Suite for Old Mill

Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite plays at the Old Mill Theatre (WA) from November 30.

Directed by Susie Conte, Plaza Suite looks at three couples who successively occupy the same room at a New York City hotel.

Each act chronicles a moment in time:

• A suburban couple with their marriage in tatters take the suite while their house is being painted and discover it’s the same one they honeymooned in 23 years before.
