High Society on Mousetrap Stage

High Society on Mousetrap Stage

Classic Cole Porter songs transformed Philip Barry’s The Philadelphia Story into the well-loved MGM movie musical High Society, on stage at The Mousetrap Theatre Company Inc., Redcliffe Showgrounds (Qld), from May 2, 2014.

C. K. Dexter Haven (Jason Kirby) was divorced from wealthy socialite Tracy Samantha Lord (Donna Woollard), but remains in love with her. She, however, is about to get married to a bland gentleman of good standing, George Kittredge (Marcus Thomas).

Spymagazine, in possession of embarrassing information about Tracy's father sends reporter Mike Connor (Tom Burrell) and photographer Liz Imbrie (Susie Bushnell) to cover the nuptials. Tracy begins an elaborate charade as a private means of revenge, pretending that her Uncle Willy (Douglas Wharton) is her father Seth Lord (Ron Liekefett) and vice versa.

To the soundtrack of Cole Porter tunes, such as “Who wants to be a millionaire”, “True Love” and “I Love Paris,” Connor falls in love with Tracy. She must choose between three very different men in a course of self-discovery. Starring in other roles are Sharon Keinonen, Elke Gorenflo, Louise Pointing, Linda Rayner, Travis Bowman and Peter Lovely.

The production is directed by Tanja Stanley and Sophie Even.

The three week season will open at Mousetrap’s theatre at Redcliffe Showgrounds with evening performances at 7.30 pm on 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th 16th and 17th May and with 2.00 pm matinees on Sundays 4th and 11th May.
