How to Keep Your Little Theatre Open During the Coronavirus Epidemic

Stage Whispers Perth correspondent Kimberley Shaw shares ways of making your audience and company as safe as possible during the outbreak of Covid 19. 

Be aware that advice is changing very quickly, so little theatres (with an audience under 500) may NOT be able to perform next weekend, but these measures will also be helpful when we return to business after the worst of the outbreak. 


Community Theatre Cancellations

Community Theatres across Australia are cancelling or postponing their seasons due to the Corona Virus pandemic.

In Victoria CentreStage Geelong announced that their planned programming of West Side Story has been postponed and not be onstage during the originally planned March 27th– April 4th season at the Geelong Arts Centre.

Jukebox is set to provide the soundtrack for Community Musical Theatre in 2020.


Draculas Cabaret restaurant was the new venue to host the Gold Palm Theatre Awards formerly Gold Coast Area Theatre Awards) on Monday 2 December 2019.

It was the 11th presentation night of the award which covers not only the Gold Coast community theatre but also those in Ipswich, Toowoomba and Morton Bay. Hosted for the sixth time by musical theatre star Ian Stenlake it was night of celebration with musical acts drawn form the nominees.

2019 Finley Awards

The 2019 Finley Awards will be held at The Heath Ledger Theatre, State Theatre Centre of WA on January 18, 2020.

This year there are even more awards up for grabs because the DramaFest Awards will now be presented on the Finley Awards Night.
