Shout! Will Rock Sutherland

Shout! Will Rock Sutherland

Shout! The Legend Of The Wild One is the rags-to-riches story of Johnny O'Keefe, also known as JO'K, or The Wild One. He was Australia's answer to Elvis.

Miranda Musical Society’s production of Shout! – from March 20 – 24 at Sutherland Entertainment Centre(NSW)  - promises to take audiences on a musical journey through three decades as it follows O'Keefe on his path from obscurity to stardom, detailing his meteoric rise along with the inverse destruction of his personal life – and  - most touchingly - his relationship with his wife Marianne.

Shout!! features the catalogue of solid gold J’OK hits all brought together in this vivid stage musical celebration of rock and roll:

She’s My Baby * Wild One * Right Now * So Tough * Crazy * Purple People * Eater * Bye Bye Baby *I’m Gonna Knock On Your Door * the title songShout and many more.

Luke Loseby is the Wild One in this celebration of Australia’s music history, full of sound and light, colour and razzle-dazzle, song and dance.

Directed by Bob Peet, with musical director Jennifer Parbery and choreography by Kira Nelson, the production also stars Leanne Ansell as Johnny’s wife Marianne Renate, Johnny Acosta as Lee Gordon and Nicole Butler and Wayne Thomas as Johnny’s parents Maureen and Ray O’Keefe. Plus James Jonathon, Nathan Sandercock, Tim Wotherspoon and Rory Chatterton as the Delltones and Ellie McAdams, Tanya Boyle and Sally Redman as JO’K’s backing trio. And introducing young Aiden McLeod as “Young Johnny”

Johnny O'Keefe's impact on the Australian music industry is undeniable: He was the first Australian rock ‘n' roll performer to tour the United States and is still the Australian performer with the most Top 40 hits ever – an amazing 29, spanning his entire career from 1959 to 1974.
