Tom, Dick and Harry to Tickle Adelaide Funny Bones

Tom, Dick and Harry to Tickle Adelaide Funny Bones

As always, Adelaide’s oldest continuously operating community theatre group, the Adelaide Repertory Theatre will end its 2014 season with something to tickle the funny bone. Laughs will definitely be the outcome of the company’s play of choice, as the work flows from the pen of Ray Cooney, a master of farce.

Tom, Dick and Harry tells the story of less than helpful brothers who attempt to support their sibling Tom and his wife Linda in making a good impression on a special day - when Tom and Linda are to receive a visit from the adoption agency through which the young couple hope to start a family.

Much to Tom’s horror, his house unexpectedly fills with on-the-nose body parts, but when police arrive, suspicious events are already multiplying; illegal immigrants are added to the mix.  The good impression Tom and Linda had hoped to make on the agency inspector goes downhill fast… and with hilarious results.

Ray Cooney collaborated with his son Michael in the 2003 writing of the play. Cooney is particularly well known for Run for Your Wife, which, with its nine year stint, was the longest-running comedy on the West End.

Directed by Adelaide Theatre Guide Award-winning Ian Rigney, the Adelaide Repertory Theatre’s production of Tom, Dick and Harry stars James Edwards as Tom, David Salter as Dick and Matt Houston as Larry. The remaining cast includes Lana Adamuszek, Tamara Bennetts, Glen Vallen and Penni Hamilton Smith.

The Adelaide Repertory Theatre’s end of year comedies are always highly anticipated and Tom, Dick and Harry promises to be no exception.

People in the know always book early, so get in now for a chance to see sibling revelry at its absolute funniest.
