Dream Production of Big Fish for Directorial Debut

When Sydney Youth Musical Theatre’s (SYMT) production Big Fish takes to the stage in early 2023, it will be the culmination of a long-held dream for its director Dylan Hayley Rosenthal. Seeing the Hayes Theatre Co production of Big Fish in 2017 was a transformative moment for the musical theatre performer, so much so that Dylan has been determined to one day direct a production of the show herself.

“Seeing Big Fish changed me,” Dylan said.

Barefoot in the Park at Heidelberg

The third play of Heidelberg Theatre Company’s 2022 season is Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simon, directed by Llaaneath Poor.

Llaaneath has been a member of Heidelberg Theatre Company virtually since birth, and is a second-generation director. Having worked on and behind the HTC stage several times, more recently she has enjoyed working as a director for the Company (Crossing Delancey in 2018).

Mayhem and Murder at Cronulla

The new production at Arts Theatre Cronulla is Dial M for Murder, considered a classic thriller. It was first presented on the stage at London’s Westminster Theatre in 1952, and then had a long run of 552 performances on Broadway from 1952 to 1954. Preview audiences have been intrigued, baffled and greatly entertained.

Picasso at the Pavilion

Castle Hill Players complete their 2022 season of plays at the Pavilion Theatre with Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile, from October 18 to December 10.

The production is directed by CHP veteran Dave Went (The Cripple of Inishmaan, How the Other Half Loves, Wanted: One Body, Leading Ladies), and dedicated in loving memory to the late Jewell Johnson.

A Love Affair at Galleon Theatre
