Rock of Ages Sydney Season Postponed

Rock of Ages Sydney Season Postponed

Was three musicals opening in Sydney in early January just one too many?

Despite having become one of the longest running musicals to be staged at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne and opening to universal critical acclaim, the producers of  Rock of Ages announced today (October 27, 2011) "that, due to the current economic down turn in Australia impacting on single ticket sales in Sydney, the Sydney season of Rock of Ages, scheduled to preview from 11 January 2012, has been postponed."

Rodney Rigby of Newtheatricals, on behalf of the producing group said, “It has been decided due to the current economic environment, Rock of Ages will reschedule its Sydney season at a later time.”

The Brisbane season of Rock of Ages, originally scheduled to play until December 18, 2011 has also been cut short, and closes two weeks early on December 4.

January remains a busy month for musical theatre opening in Sydney, with Annie opening at the Lyric Theatre and Love Never Dies at the Capitol.

All tickets purchased for the Sydney season of Rock of Ages will be fully refunded through the relevant ticketing agencies.
