The 39th Adelaide Festival, the first of the next three festivals curated by Artistic Director Ruth Mackenzie CBE and Chief Executive Kath M Mainland CBE, invites citizens, artists and communities to help shape the way the Festival can support and inspire. 

Victorian Opera Season 2024

Victorian Opera has launched its 2024 season, set to traverse maestros, masterpieces, gothic horror, First Nations creation myths and an Australian literary classic reimagined.   Heralding its first program under the new leadership of incoming Artistic Director Stuart Maunder AM (pictured above),next year's season promises audiences a journey through the magic of opera and music theatre in a celebration of the enduring power of storytelling.  

Wicked Celebrates 20 Years

On 30 October, WICKED will celebrate 20 years on Broadway as “Broadway’s Biggest Blockbuster” (NY Times) and the Australian company will commemorate the occasion with all the WICKED productions around the world. 

Modern Adaptation of Classic Thriller Gaslight to Tour

A modern adaptation of Patrick Hamilton’s suspenseful 1940’s thriller Gaslight, starring Geraldine Hakewill and Toby Schmitz, is set to tour Australia from February 2024.

The Lehman Trilogy for Theatre Royal Sydney in 2024

The National Theatre and Neal Street Productions’ five-time Tony Award-winning Best Play The Lehman Trilogy will come to Theatre Royal Sydney in February 2024 following sold-out runs in London’s West End and on Broadway.

Written by Stefano Massini, adapted by Ben Power, and directed by Sam Mendes with set design by Es Devlin, The Lehman Trilogy features a cast of three playing the Lehman brothers, their sons and grandsons, in three parts on a single evening.

Melbourne Season for The Dictionary of Lost Words

Sydney Theatre Company and State Theatre Company South Australia today announced their co-production The Dictionary of Lost Words will tour Arts Centre Melbourne in February 2024 for a strictly limited season. Tickets are on sale now via 

State Theatre Company South Australia Season 2024

A line-up comprising new Australian works, a big Broadway hit and a world premiere book adaptation will form State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2024 season.

Announced on Thursday October 12 at Adelaide Convention Centre by State Theatre Company South Australia’s Artistic Director Mitchell Butel (pictured above, photo by Claudio Raschella), the season promises to “inspire, delight and challenge audiences”.

Sunset Boulevard To Star Sarah Brightman

A brand-new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award winning musical Sunset Boulevard will premiere in Melbourne in May 2024 at the Princess Theatre followed by a season at the Sydney Opera House in August. This newly imagined revival will mark Sunset Boulevard’s first return to Australia in almost twenty years.

Making her global debut in the role, Sarah Brightman will star as Norma Desmond in what marks her first theatrical role in more than three decades.

Cirque du Soleil Big Top Returns in 2024 with LUZIA

Cirque du Soleil’s big top is returning to Australia with its critically acclaimed production of LUZIA, for a 2024-2025 national tour, visiting Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney. These performances will highlight the 25th anniversary of Cirque du Soleil in Australia.
