Chitty to Land in Sydney at the Capitol

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the stage musical based on the MGM Motion Picture, flies into Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from 16 November.

‘You’ll believe a car can fly,’ the media release assures us, in this stage adaptation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with a score that features “Truly Scrumptious,” “Toot Sweets,” “Hushabye Mountain” and the movie’s Oscar nominated title song “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.

Is The Addams Family's Pugsley in Your Family

The Australian producers of stage musical The Addams Family, Rodney Rigby, Stuart Oken, Roy Furman, Michael Leavitt, Five CentProductions and Elephant Eye Theatrical, have announced auditions for the role of Pugsley in the stage musical which opens at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in March 2013 (rehearsals begin in January 2013).

Auditionees must be young males, born between January 29, 2000 and January 29, 2003, to play a 12 year old. They must be less than 150cm tall, must reside no more than 90 minutes’ drive from Sydney CBD (Capitol Theatre).

An Officer and a Gentleman: Views from the Ensemble.

During the technical rehearsals for the World Premiere production of the musical An Officer and a Gentleman at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre, Neil Litchfield spoke to ensemble members in the Green Room about their experiences, during rehearsals for the show.

This morning (April 24, 2012)  in a Brunswick studio, with rain pelting the roof, Melbourne’s media were invited to attend a Moonshadow appetiser. Images of set designs and sketches of costumes, not yet made were, the only backdrop, and yet a forty-strong media contingent squeezed into the space.

Legally Blonde The Musical: Australian Cast Announced

The coveted role of Australia’s Elle Woods in the musical Legally Blonde, which premieres on October 4, has gone to Lucy Durack, with Rob Mills as Warner, David Harris as Emmett, Erika Heynatz as Brooke Wyndham and Cameron Daddo as Professor Callahan, it was announced by producers Howard Panter and John Frost, together with the NSW Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Arts George Souris on March 5, 2012.

Songs For Nobodies National Tour

Joanna Murray-Smith’s one-woman show, Songs For Nobodies, starring Bernadette Robinson, will play a return Brisbane season at QPAC's Cremorne Theatre from May 16 - 31, 2012 and Perth, at the State Theatre Centre of WA from June 22 to July 1, 2012.

The national tour has already included seasons at Brisbane Powerhouse (November 2011) and return seasons in Melbourne at The Fairfax Studio from December 21 – January 15, 2011, Sydney at The Playhouse, Sydney Opera House from February 3 – February 19, 2012.

A Chorus Line: New Australian Production

Sydney, Perth and Brisbane  Dates Announced.

Sydney, Perth and Brisbane seasons have now been announced for the new Australian production of A Chorus Line, which has already played successful Adelaide and Melbourne seasons. 

Limited seasons have been announced for Sydney's Capitol Theatre, for 21 performances from July 20, 2012, for 20 performances at Perth's Burswood Theatre, from October 20 and for 21 performances at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC from November 16.
