Strange Bedfellows Musical for Melbourne

Strange Bedfellows Musical for Melbourne

Even more Australian than Priscilla!

That’s the claim of the stars of brand new Aussie musical comedy Strange Bedfellows who appeared together on the Princess Theatre stage in Melbourne this afternoon.John Wood (Blue Heelers) and Peter Cousens (Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon) will team up as Ralph and Vince, together with Lucy Durack (Wicked, MAMMA MIA!) and Melissa Langton (Les Misérables, The Fabulous Singlettes).

Based on the 2004 film, Strange Bedfellows includes all original music by John Foreman, and will open at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre in mid-October, following its successful premiere in Albury Victoria, with 12 000 audience members over 23 performances.

“I’ve never been in a show where we actually had to wait for the laughter to stop before we could actually go on. I’ve never been in that situation and it’s quite exciting,” laughed Cousens.

“I cannot overemphasis how good this show is. It’s just magic. If the audience response in the city is even half as good as it was in Albury it will be a pretty big thing,” said Wood.

Lucy Durack, fresh as a daisy after a flight from Perth, said she relished, “the challenge of starting a new character and getting to work on a new Australian musical from the beginning”.

“I feel we’re all invested in this show because we’ve been there from the beginning, said Melissa Langton.” It’s Australian and its brand new.”

Tickets go on sale 11th July for a limited season.
