Strange Bedfellows Musicals Postponed Until 2012

Strange Bedfellows Musicals Postponed Until 2012

Instinct Entertainment in association with McLaren House officially announced today that the new, all Australian musical, Strange Bedfellows, scheduled to open at The Princess Theatre, Melbourne in October this year will now open early next year.

David Redman from Instinct Entertainment has also confirmed that Strange Bedfellows has been postponed.

He told Stage Whispers this is due to casting challenges and development issues with the musical.

He says the show is still being refined and the producers are waiting for a possible new star cast member to join the show.

"Date slide is common in the film industry," he said. "This is the best thing to happen to the musical"

Producer, Spencer McLaren said“Like most original productions the world over, elements of a new show can sometimes take longer than anticipated to bring together and due to a delay in confirming a key cast member we need to adjust our opening dates to ensure the show we bring to the stage is the show we’ve worked so passionately to create.”

The musical was scheduled to open at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne on October 19, starring John Wood, Peter Cousens, Melissa Langton and Lucy Durack.

Based on the hit 2004 movie, the ‘Off Broadway’ premiere of Strange Bedfellows took place in Albury in late 2010.

A possible alternative opening date could be around Australia Day, 2012.
