Lee Lewis to Depart Queensland Theatre

Queensland Theatre has today announced it is set to farewell Lee Lewis as Artistic Director at the end of this month, following four years of artistic leadership, award-winning creative work and significant progress for the company.

Ms. Lewis took up the leadership role for the state-wide arts company in 2019 and throughout her tenure the company was nominated for 53 Matilda Awards, winning 11 of these including two for Best Main Stage Productions.   

2024 Garrmalang Festival program announced

Darwin’s Dry Season cultural calendar kicks off with the release of Garrmalang (the Larrakia name for Darwin City) Festival’s program. Garrmalang’s Creative Director, Ben Graetz, who returns to the helm for 2024, said, “Having been involved with the Festival since 2014, I am so proud seeing the event grow and build over the years and support so many local and national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performers, artists and community members.”

Full Cast Announced for Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple

Producer John Frost for Crossroads Live has announced the full cast for Neil Simon’s Tony Award-winning comedy The Odd Couple, which plays at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre from May and Theatre Royal Sydney from June. New tickets go on sale this week due to popular demand.

Cast for 2024 Tour of The Mousetrap

The cast for the 2024 tour of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap has been announced by producers John Frost for Crossroads Live and Shake & Stir Theatre Co. The murder mystery will tour throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory – kicking off at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre from 11 May. 36th Annual Matilda Awards Announce 2023 Winners

Queensland’s premier theatre awards have announced this year’s winners of the 36th annual Matilda Awards, following an awards ceremony at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Monday 26th February, 2024.    

The shortlist of nominees contested across 20 categories, recognising the work of a range of Queensland theatre makers, from emerging to established artists, mainstage and independent productions, new Australian work, and expertise in design.
