Allan Girod. Fringe World. Flaming Locomotive, Driver Room, Art Gallery of WA. Feb 3-4, 2017

Described as “a giant-hearted story from a giant-sized storyteller”, this gorgeous little one-man show feels a bit like a warm hug. A beautiful, honest sharing of humanity.

Allan Girod, is the archetypical story master, a supreme conjurer of images and emotions. A sharing of his life story, from shy Belmont teenager, feeling out of his depth and lonely at an expensive grammar school, through discovering his love for theatre in a community drama society in the Wheatbelt. Allan talks about doubting himself, his strive for perfectionism and his desire to create the perfect strategy, whether it be in medieval war-games on the computer or in real life. A wonderful journey that takes us from suburban Perth to a Cirque du Soleil Tour of Europe, told with self-deprecating humour and an unconsciously beautiful style.

When he was chosen for Cirque du Soleil, Allan was told that it was because they loved his humanity - and that is the overwhelming feeling from this show. One man’s journey, beautifully revealed.
